Hybrid heating system - Oil & Air Source Heat Pump
What we did
South West Heat Pumps were asked to find a solution to reduce the cost of heating this 18th century manor house. The property originally was heated by 70kw no condensing oil boiler.
We installed a new condensing oil boiler and 2 Sanyo 9kw heat pumps linked to a 350ltr buffer. The heat pumps provide the first 18kw of heating and hot water while the oil boiler makes up the short fall during colder times. We were also separated the heating into zones and installed an ESBE 90c weather compensation unit.
The system is designed to be left on 24 hours a day with setback temperatures at certain times of the day, this helps to keep the fabric of the building warm whilst helping reduce energy consumption.
The property befitted from old cast iron radiators, sadly over the years these had been painted with white gloss paint. South West Heat Pumps arranged for the radiators to be picked up from site, sand blasted and refinished to their original state.
